Bristol residents shared their sorrows on Sunday after the recently confirmed Banksy art piece of a girl firing a slingshot filled with flowers was vandalised by graffiti. The artwork located in the Barton Hill area of the city, was vandalised by a pink fluorescent graffiti before it was covered to prevent further damage. "I think it's a shame, I saw the pictures of the vandalism earlier. I would have really loved to see the Banksy but I understand that, you know, it's very tempting to try to attack it," stated local Margaret Heart. Another resident, Celine, shared Margaret's views by saying: "I think it's particularly sad, something wasn't done to protect it immediately. I think it's very predictable that something would happen. And now Bristol's lost a beautiful piece of art, unless they can rectify it." The artist Banksy confirmed that the artwork of a girl firing a slingshot of red flowers was his by posting images of it on his Instagram account and website on Valentine's Day.
