At sunset on December 6 a Rocket Lab Electron rocket was launched from a rotating planet. With multiple small satellites on board it departed on a mission to low Earth orbit dubbed Running Out of Fingers from Mahia Peninsula on New Zealand's north island.
An Iranian-made Zafar satellite failed to reach orbit on Sunday after launching from Iran's Semnan Space Center on board a Simorgh rocket. Although the rocket successfully took off, it did not reportedly reach sufficient speed to place the satellite into its intended orbit. The last four Iranian satellite launches have now failed, with the previous instances taking place in January, February, and August of 2019.
